More Signs Google Fiber Is Coming to San Antonio -

Back in January, Google Fiber announced that in addition to Portland, Phoenix, and San Jose, San Antonio might be one of the markets the company planned to expand to by the end of 2015. Franchise applications suggest the paperwork has been in process for a while, and that same paperwork recently indicated that the Texas PUC has approved Google's June 5 application to operate as an ISP within city limits.

Google job applications also indicate that San Antonio is slated to be one of Google Fiber's next destinations.

Local job notices for a Google Fiber "city manager," "outside plant quality assurance manager," and "outside plant engineering manager" were posted on May 21, June 25, and June 30.

Google continues to play coy about the San Antonio deployment, and the job listings are quick to indicate that the job listings don't guarantee a Google Fiber deployment. While evidence mounts that San Antonio is definitely a planned launch market, Google's also quick to say no formal decision has been made yet.

"We haven t made a final decision about bringing Google Fiber to San Antonio," a Google spokesperson said. "But when we do decide, we want to be able to hit the ground running, so we re starting to look for candidates who could help lead our team in each metro area."
