Serial Fiber Cutter Strikes Again in California -

A serial fiber cable cutter appears to have struck again in California, this time impacting service for AT&T customers in San Joaquin County. The FBI has been hunting a team of coordinated fiber vandals for much of the last year, The first cuts were made on July 6, 2014, when cables were severed in Berkeley and Fremont. There have been more than a dozen cuts since, several of them requiring a coordinated team of attackers.

This latest outage impacted thousands of users, with damage to 1,200 feet of a fiber run that required 192 pairs of fiber to be refused.

Service has been restored following last night s vandalism in the Stockton area, an A&T statement said. Technicians worked as quickly as possible to resolve the issue and all services are currently running normally. We continue to cooperate with local law enforcement to find those responsible. Vandalism is a serious matter that affects public safety and the community at large.
