Wave Broadband Deploys Gigabit Service in San Francisco -

Wave Broadband (see our user reviews) says the company is bringing faster gigabit speeds to San Francisco. According to a company announcement, they're starting with deployment of the new Wave-G gigabit service to San Francisco s NEMA, a 750-unit property in the city s Mid-Market neighborhood. According to Wave, promotional pricing for the service will run users $80 a month.

There's no indication that this kind of service will see broader city deployment anytime soon, though the company says it has secured $130 million financing to accelerate the expansion of its fiber network in California, Oregon, and Washington.

The company started deploying gigabit speeds to Seattle condos late last year.

As a company that has provided robust and reliable gigabit service to tens of thousands of consumers for the past six years, we are excited to extend our gigabit offerings to San Francisco for the first time, especially in a premier development like NEMA, said John van Oppen, SVP of CondoInternet and Wave. We look forward to bringing our high performance gigabit service to Bay Area residents who expect a leading customer experience at home as well as at work.
